Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati's researchers developed affordable way for detecting SARS-CoV-2, virus causing Covid-19. The method, based on principle of sedimentation, uses combination of bentonite clay and saltwater. The method was tested using a virus similar to coronavirus. The researchers checked results using detection tool RT-PCR and clay-based approach gave matching results.
