Kerala has placed Idukki, Malappuram, and Palakkad on red alert, ordering schools, colleges, and tourist centres to remain closed on Wednesday following IMD's forecast of very heavy rainfall. Officials, including the Revenue Department and Kerala State Electricity Board, have been asked to stay alert. A red alert indicates "heavy to extremely heavy rain" of over 20 cm in 24 hours.
