Akal Takht (most prominent of the five seats of authority of Sikhs) has asked Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains to repair roads as a religious sentence. This came after Bains organised dance and music performances at an event marking 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. This is the first time Akal Takht has mandated infrastructure development as punishment.
