Amid Hindi imposition debate, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote a letter to Kerala MP John Brittas in Malayalam. This is being seen as the first instance of a Union Home Minister issuing an official response in the regional language. Earlier, the CPI(M) MP replied in Malayalam to Union Minister Ravneet Bittu, after receiving a response from him in Hindi.
