India and several other countries on Earth's Northern Hemisphere are observing the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year, today. A Solstice is an astronomical event when tilt of Earth's axis with respect to Sun is maximum. This day also marks the longest day of the year in Southern Hemisphere, called Summer Solstice for the region.
