The Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in the country has reached a historic low of 25, reflecting a significant decrease of 37.5 percent from 40 in 2013, as per the Sample Registration System report for 2023 by the Registrar General of India. The report is prepared on the basis of the number of infant fatalities per 1000 births in a year.
