India's National One Health Mission is studying migratory birds and slaughterhouses to prevent zoonotic spillovers, said Dr Naveen Kumar of ICMR-NIV. The initiative involves over 13 ministries and includes setting up surveillance labs nationwide. Studies in bird sanctuaries and slaughterhouses aim to detect emerging viruses and reduce pandemic risks.
