India is fast-tracking its military space surveillance programme by launching the first of the proposed 52 defence surveillance satellites by April 2026. The move is aimed at enhancing its space-based surveillance capabilities, especially along the China and Pakistan borders, and in the Indian Ocean Region. The ₹26,968 crore project aims to provide real-time monitoring and improve border security.
