Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan said India must promote industries that create more jobs, particularly those that are labour-intensive. "You would think with 7% growth, we would be creating a lot of jobs. But our manufacturing growth is more capital-intensive," he said. Rajan cited examples of Vietnam and Bangladesh creating jobs through labour-intensive industries of textile and leather.
