Former England captain Michael Atherton said fixtures at ICC events should no longer be "arranged" to make sure that India and Pakistan meet at every tournament. "Cricket...is now...a proxy for broader tensions and for propaganda," he added. Atherton noted that there's no justification for a sport to schedule fixtures for profit, especially as the "rivalry" is exploited in other ways.
