India has responded after US President Donald Trump claimed that PM Narendra Modi assured him that India will stop buying Russian oil. "It has been our consistent priority to safeguard the interests of the Indian consumer in a volatile energy scenario," it said. India said its energy policy includes broad-basing energy sourcing and diversifying as appropriate to meet market conditions.
