India's fiscal deficit for April-September period widened to ₹5.73 lakh crore, Controller General of Accounts' data said. The fiscal deficit stood at 36.5% of full-year target at end of first half of FY26. In comparison to year-ago period, it stood at 29.4% of the annual target. Centre will narrow the fiscal gap to 4.4% of GDP in this financial year.
