India's coal imports surged by 13.54% to 22.05 million tonnes in the month of September. This is a rise from 19.42 million tonnes of coal imported during the same month of the previous financial year. Non-coking coal imports stood at 13.90 million tonnes for the month while coking coal imports, essential for the steel sector, rose to 4.50 million tonnes.
