At an event marking 50 years of Emergency, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said, "Today is a day to pay tribute to those who resisted the Emergency and fought to safegaurd democracy." He added, "The political activists who were imprisoned...fought tooth and nail to protect democracy...They opposed the imposition of...Emergency and suspension of fundamental rights of citizens."
