India's foreign exchange reserves surged by $4.75 billion to $693.62 billion for the week ended August 8, data released by the RBI on Friday showed. A strengthening of the country's foreign exchange kitty reflects a strengthening of the country's macroeconomic fundamentals and gives the RBI more headroom to strengthen the rupee vis-a-vis the US dollar.
