A study by AIIMS Delhi and other institutions found that less than half of 177 neurosurgeons, neurologists, and critical care specialists received training in brainstem death certification (BDC) during MBBS. Study noted that 37.3% said there is no fixed curriculum for resident training, only 10% regularly train residents. India's organ donation rate is just 0.7 per million population, it said.
