India's richest 1% saw their wealth jump by 62% between 2000 and 2023, according to a report commissioned by the South African Presidency of the G20. In China, the richest 1% got wealthier by 54% during the same period. Between 2000 and 2024, the world's top 1% captured 41% of all new wealth, while 1% went to the bottom 50%.
