An 80,000-seat cricket stadium, set to be India's second largest after Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, will be built at Surya City in Bommasandra on Bengaluru's outskirts. It will be part of a ₹1,650-crore mega sports complex approved by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah. The announcement comes two months after a stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium killed 11 people.
