India is taking steps to fortify the 22-km-long Siliguri corridor, which connects the northeastern states to the mainland, reports said. The decision was made considering the political turmoil in neighbouring Bangladesh. The corridor has strategic nodes equipped with rapid deployment forces, intelligence units, Para Special Forces, and Rafale fighters and BrahMos missiles are also stationed.
