India strongly urged Russia to release and repatriate 27 Indian nationals recruited in the Russian military, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. Despite Russia's earlier claims of halting Indian enlistments in April 2024, new reports suggest many are being coerced and deployed in conflict zones. Jaiswal also urged Indians to avoid being lured into military service in the name of employment.
