The Defence Ministry signed a contract worth ₹659.47 crore to procure Night Sight (Image Intensifier) for 7.62 x 51 mm SIG 716 Assault Rifles and other accessories for the Indian Army. These sights are capable of engaging targets up to an effective range of 500 metres, even under starlit conditions. These are an update over the existing Passive Night Sights.
