Indian markets closed higher on October 3, with Sensex up 223 points to 81,207 and Nifty 50 closing above 24,850. Tata Steel, Power Grid, Kotak Mahindra, Axis Bank and L&T led gains. Tech Mahindra, Coal India, Maruti Suzuki, UltraTech and TCS were down. All sectors except pharma, realty and FMCG closed higher, with metals up 2% and PSU banks 1%.
