Two Nilgiri-class stealth guided-missile warships, INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri, were placed into active service in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. This is the first time two major surface combatants, which are Electronic Warfare-capable, have been commissioned together. An ecosystem of over 200 MSMEs, supporting around 4,000 direct and 10,000 indirect jobs, made the ships possible, government said.
