INS Nilgiri, India’s newest stealth warship, docked in Chennai for the first time on Thursday. Named after Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiri Hills, the ship was commissioned in January 2025. It is the first of seven next-generation stealth guided-missile frigates, indigenously built under Project 17A. "The maiden visit of INS Nilgiri to Chennai symbolises a proud homecoming," the Defence Ministry said.
