A 39-year-old Indian-origin man, Surjit Singh, has been sentenced to life in prison for brutally killing his 76-year-old mother, Mohinder Kaur, in Birmingham. Intoxicated with alcohol and cocaine, he chased, kicked, and stamped on her after a fight over a TV remote. Arrested at the scene, Singh must serve a minimum of 15 years before parole.
