Mayor of Israel's Haifa city, Yona Yahav, said they are changing school history books to correct that it was Indian troops and not British who liberated Haifa from Ottoman rule. He was speaking at the Indian cemetery of fallen soldiers in Haifa. During World War I, Indian cavalry regiments cleared Ottoman forces from slopes of Mt Carmel to liberate Haifa.
