The US has shut down the option for scheduling visa interviews in a third country, meaning that those applying for non-immigrant visas (NIV) will have to give interviews in their home countries. This option was rolled out during COVID-19 pandemic. The new development is likely to affect Indians as waiting time in US Consulates ranges from three to nine months.
