GST Council, chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, exempted health and life insurance premiums from GST. Currently, health and term insurance policies attract 18% GST. The exemption will be applicable on individual life insurance policies, including term life, ULIP and endowment policies; and individual health insurance policies, including family floater and senior citizen policies.
