Italian luxury fashion brand Prada has given credit to India following backlash for featuring Kolhapuri-like sandals. "Prada acknowledges that sandals inspired by traditional Indian footwear made in specific districts in Maharashtra and Karnataka...were featured in its Men's 2026 Spring Summer show in Milan," a company spokesperson told Economic Times. Kolhapuri chappals got the GI tag in 2018.
