Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said his cabinet approved SOPs requiring police scrutiny for all land transfers between people of different religions. "In a sensitive state like Assam, land transfer between two religious groups needs to be handled very carefully," Sarma said. All such land transfer will now be reviewed by state government through its special special branch (of police).
