The Supreme Court directed that the Investigating Officers (IOs) shall not issue summons to advocates who represent accused to know details of the case, unless it is covered under any of the exceptions under Section 132 of the Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA). The Court was deciding a suo-motu case arising out of a reference made by a two-judge bench.
