Authorities in Iran have expanded a ban on people walking their dogs in public to 17 cities, including Isfahan and Kerman, AFP reported. The move was taken due to public health, social order and safety concerns, local media reported quoting an official. Many religious scholars reportedly consider petting dogs or coming into contact with their saliva as ritually impure.
