Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a recent interview remarked that Iran had never sought to wipe off Israel from the world map. He, however, added that Iran would continue to support pro-Palestinian armed groups. Notably, Israel and Iran were allies until Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution and Iran was one of the first Islamic states to recognise Israel in 1948.
