A TOI report claimed IRCTC exposed a scam where fraudsters used fake user IDs and bots to book tickets within minutes of opening. Over 2.5 crore fake accounts were deactivated, and 2.9 lakh suspicious bookings flagged. Disposable emails were reportedly used to create fake profiles and resell tickets at higher prices. IRCTC is now using anti-bot tech to stop fraud.
