A Demat account isn't mandatory for mutual funds. Investors can use the folio method via AMC websites, RTAs (CAMS, KFintech), or MF Central. It's ideal for SIPs and comes with no Demat-related fees. However, ETFs or stock exchange-traded funds require a Demat account. Demat offers a consolidated portfolio view but comes with annual charges, unlike the folio route.
