Dysthymia, now called Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD), isn’t exactly the same as high-functioning depression, but the terms can overlap. PDD is a long-lasting, mild form of depression where individuals may seem to function well outwardly. However, it still significantly affects mood, energy, and daily life, even if the person appears “fine” to others.
