Israel struck government forces of Syria in the country's Sweida city, while saying that it was doing so to protect the Druze minority community. Israel also vowed to keep the area near the Israeli border demilitarised. Earlier, a Druze leader, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri, accused the Syrian government of breaking a ceasefire and bombing the city.
