Israel has launched its ground offensive to occupy Gaza City, which PM Benjamin Netanyahu's government said is aimed at rooting out Hamas, officials said. Relentless bombing was carried out in Gaza City, with a 16-floor building also being destroyed, a day after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to Jerusalem. Rubio also called Hamas "savage terrorists".
