Sheba Medical Center in Israel, with Tel Aviv University, has grown kidney organoids that survived over 34 weeks, a leap from the previous four-week limit. While not fully functional, these lab-made mini-organs mimic real kidneys and aid disease study and drug testing. Researchers hope their secreted molecules may soon help repair damaged kidneys, easing transplant shortages.
