RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra reacted to ICICI Bank's move to hike minimum balance for savings accounts and said it "doesn't fall under any regulatory norms". "RBI has left it to the banks to decide on...minimum balance...banks have their own requirements," Malhotra said. ICICI increased minimum monthly average balance requirement for savings accounts opened after August 1 from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000.
