'Squid Game 3' director Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that season 3 initially had "a happy ending" where protagonist Gi-hun reunited with his daughter. Speaking about how the world needed "hope", he said, "The baby symbolises hope and the future generation. Gi-hun, a member of the older generation, [sacrificing] himself to save that child...[and] giving the future generation a better world."
