Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on Sunday said, "As per the preliminary information, the bridge was old and rusted...Many people were standing on the bridge when it collapsed." His statement came after the iron bridge over the Indrayani River in Pune collapsed, killing at least two and injuring around 38. He added that the new bridge plan has been sanctioned.
