National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah said Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election results were unexpected and they won more seats than they had thought, "especially after what happened during the Lok Sabha elections". NC won 42 out of 90 seats in the polls, while Congress emerged victorious on 6 seats. NC and Congress have an alliance in the Union Territory.
