Jailed Egyptian-British blogger and democracy campaigner Alaa Abd el-Fattah was granted pardon by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Abd el-Fattah became known for his blogs that gave voice to Arab Spring revolution of 2011. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail in 2015 for protesting without permission and then again in December 2021 on charges of spreading fake news.
