Actress Jane Birkin's original 'Birkin' bag is being auctioned at the Sotheby's Fashion Icons sale in Paris on July 10. It will be on public view in New York till June 12. The bag was created in 1984 when Hermes' CEO Jean-Louis Dumas was inspired by Jane's need for a stylish yet practical bag. It soon became a celebrity-favoured accessory.
