Japan on Friday executed a man who killed nine people after contacting them via social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Also dubbed as the "Twitter killer", Takahiro Shiraishi, strangled and dismembered eight women and one man in his apartment near Tokyo in 2017. This is the first use of capital punishment by Japan in nearly three years.
