Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba resigned from the post on Sunday, saying he would continue his duties until his successor was elected. Ishiba instructed his Liberal Democratic Party to hold an emergency leadership race. Ishiba's ruling coalition had lost majorities in elections for both houses of parliament amid voters' anger over rising living costs.
