Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba's ruling coalition failed to secure a majority in 248-seat upper house in a crucial parliamentary election, state media reported. Ishiba's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), coalition partner Komeito won 47 seats, short of 50 needed to retain control of house. Ishiba conceded defeat but said he'll continue to serve as PM, citing Japan's tariff deadline with US.
