Japan has formally asked OpenAI to stop using Japanese art forms such as manga and anime without permission, according to reports from ITMedia and IGN. Minoru Kiuchi, a senior Japanese minister, reportedly called the art forms "irreplaceable treasures". This comes after users of OpenAI's text-to-video AI model, Sora 2, started sharing videos with Japanese animation.
