Former England captain Joe Root has become the second-highest run-getter in Test cricket history. During England's first innings in the Manchester Test against India, Root surpassed former Australia captain Ricky Ponting's 13,378-run mark. Root is now only behind Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 15,921 runs in 200 Test matches.
